Why We Have Removed Filler Buttock and Breast Training From Our Academy
It is with deep sadness that we share an important decision regarding our training programmes. Following a tragic death within the aesthetics industry linked to high-volume filler treatment, we have made the decision to permanently remove filler-based buttock and breast augmentation from our training academy curriculum. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected. This loss is a sobering reminder that aesthetic medicine carries real clinical risk - particularly when it involves large-volume filler procedures.
Our Responsibility as an Academy
As a training academy, our role is not only to teach technique - it is to uphold the highest standards of patient safety, ethical practice, and clinical responsibility. While dermal fillers are widely used in facial treatments with established safety protocols, large-volume filler injections in the buttocks and breasts present significantly greater risks, including:
- Vascular occlusion
- Embolism
- Severe infection and sepsis
- Tissue necrosis
- Delayed inflammatory complications
- In rare cases, fatal outcomes
These areas contain complex vascular anatomy, and the volume of product required increases the potential severity of complications. After careful review, we do not believe these procedures meet the safety threshold we expect for the treatments we teach.
