• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that the learner must have prior to undertaking this qualification.

The qualification covers the following areas in line with the First Aid at Work Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, Guidance on Regulations (L74), Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines:
• Assessing emergency situations
• Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
• Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
• Provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis

Theory and Practical Assessments

Learners who achieve this qualification will be able to provide basic life support and management of anaphylaxis in emergency situations. Additionally, learners may wish to undertake further study in:

• Emergency first aid
• First aid at work
• Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA)
• Other basic life support qualifications
